The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission is a statutory body with a wide range of functions relating to the promotion and protection of human rights.
Applications are invited for the following full-time post:
Solicitor (Legal and Research Officer) – Permanent
The grade of this post is currently equivalent to Northern Ireland Civil Service Grade 7, with a current pay band of £56,863-£60,820 per year (£61,673-£64,469 from 1 August 2025).
The post holder will act as part of a team charged with undertaking the Commission’s powers to grant legal assistance and bring legal proceedings relating to the protection of human rights, under the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
The post holder will work within the legal team, across the Commission’s core functions and those arising from the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
This role will also support the Director in providing advice on human rights compliance in Northern Ireland to a variety of stakeholders, including Northern Ireland Executive and Assembly, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Westminster Parliament, public authorities, Council of Europe monitoring bodies, United Nations treaty bodies and civil society.
