After Brexit: Protecting Equality and Human Rights
After Brexit: Protecting Equality and Human Rights
The Commission is holding a joint event with the Equality Commission Northern Ireland on Wednesday 9 December, to discuss how equality and human rights will be protected in a post- Brexit Northern Ireland.
The event is taking place as part of this year’s Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival, and will be held online from 3-4pm.
Equality Commission Chief Executive, Dr Evelyn Collins CBE and Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission Chief Commissioner, Les Allamby, will discuss their new powers - as part of a dedicated mechanism - to monitor, advise, and report on the implementation of the UK Government’s commitment not to reduce certain equality and human rights in Northern Ireland. This commitment also ensures that some of NI’s equality laws will keep pace with future changes to certain EU equality laws.
Registration for the event is via Eventbrite and can be accessed here.
