Commission celebrates Belfast Pride 2024
The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission is delighted to support this year’s Belfast Pride Festival. The Commission will be taking a stall in the Pride Village at the Big Fish, Donegall Quay, from 12pm on Saturday 27th of July.
Speaking ahead of Pride, Chief Commissioner of NIHRC Alyson Kilpatrick, said:
“We are delighted to be supporting Pride again this year, and it is encouraging to see such a diverse range of events in the Festival. During Pride, we can take the time to celebrate achievements and reflect on the progress that has been made in human rights for LGBTQIA+ people.
However, it is also important to recognise that there is more to be done for the full realisation of human rights for everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community. No one should face discrimination or violence based on their sexual orientation, gender identity or sex characteristics. We must continue the work to progress rights protection for all.
Come and visit us at the Commission’s stall in Pride Village on 27th July and hear about our work in protecting and promoting human rights for everyone in Northern Ireland. I encourage everyone to take part in this year’s festivities and celebrate LGBTQIA+ rights together.”
