Human Rights Commission Responds to Joint Legacy Framework

19 Sept 2025

The NIHRC welcomes the publication of a framework document agreed by the UK and Irish Governments. It is clear that progress has been made. The unequivocal commitment to human rights compliance is significant and particularly welcomed. While the NIHRC will need to consider the detail and view the draft legislation when it is ready, it recognises the effort and good faith that is behind this framework. The NIHRC will provide statutory advice to the Secretary of State.
