Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission launches fourth season of ‘Rights at the Finish Line’ podcast

The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC) has launched the fourth season of its sport and human rights podcast, Rights at the Finish Line.  

In this series, sporting organisations and members of the Northern Ireland Sport and Human Rights Forum talk about their positive work in the community, using the platform as an opportunity to shine a spotlight on how they have been promoting human rights for all through sport.  

For the fourth season, we will hear from Multi-Ethnic Sport and Cultures Northern Ireland, Active Communities Network, NSPCC Northern Ireland and Transplant Sport Northern Ireland. These organisations discuss the impact of their work and how human rights plays a vital role in their activities.  

NIHRC Chief Commissioner, Alyson Kilpatrick, commented: 

“I am delighted that the new series of our podcast on sport and human rights, Rights at the Finish Line, has launched today.  

Sport and human rights is an area we are passionate about at the Commission. Our active Northern Ireland Sport and Human Rights Forum is testament to this, with a large, committed membership of sporting groups, clubs and organisations across Northern Ireland who support our work and have signed up to the Declaration of Sport and Human Rights. 

This series will highlight the many ways sport and sporting organisations can advance the protection of human rights. These including tackling issues such as racism, inequality, poverty, health and mental health, children’s rights, safeguarding and more.  

I want to extend my thanks to the individuals and organisations that have participated in our podcast series, and congratulate you on your ongoing work promoting and protecting human rights through sport.”
