Diplock Review

Last Updated: Tuesday, 9 March 2021

The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission supports the Government’s objective of
returning to jury trial in Northern Ireland. We are firmly of the view that this is not only a
desirable end in itself but also that it should be attained as soon as possible. We believe that
insufficient attention has been paid to reform of the Diplock Court system in recent years and
that the system has continued to be used long after it could have been abandoned altogether
or at least radically altered.
