Evidence on Protection of Freedoms Bill - House of Commons Committee Stage

The Commission provided written evidence on the Protection of Freedoms Bill during the Committee Stage at the House of Commons.
The Commission focusd on the stop and search powers of the police (section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000) which would be modified by the Bill.
Although# the Bill introduces some safeguards to the use of stop and search# the Commission does not believe these are enough to stop the powers being used arbitrarily.
