Immigration & Asylum Bill

This briefing paper highlights the concerns of the Northern Ireland
Human Rights Commission about the provisions of the Immigration
and Asylum Bill 1999 regarding the detention of asylum seekers as

seekers. The Commission believes that these provisions are neither
in compliance with the Human Rights Act 1998 nor with
international human rights standards.
