Review of Tribunal Services

Last Updated: Tuesday, 9 March 2021

The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission welcomes this Review of Tribunals
and trusts that a similar exercise will be conducted in Northern Ireland. Tribunals in
Northern Ireland have many similarities in terms of their statutory remit to those in
other parts of the United Kingdom, however in many instances they operate in an
entirely different context both legally and practically. The Commission is conscious
of the breadth of the Review and the different jurisdiction in which it is operating and
it has therefore restricted its response to making general comments regarding the
benchmarks proposed in paragraph 4.2 of the Review.
