Human Rights Commission Rolls Out New Training Initiative In Derry
The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission has teamed up with the North West Community Network in Derry/Londonderry and will be delivering a series of practical human rights training sessions. The first session will take place today 21 November 2012.
The programme will cover:
Session 1
Introduction to human rights
Gaining an insight into what human rights are’ the national and international legal frameworks’ and the relevance of human rights to your own work.
Session 2
Applied human rights – skills practice
Developing and practicing the skills required to identify the rights engaged in issues raised by service users’ apply a human rights based approach to pursuing resolution of service users concerns’ and advocating on their behalf. This workshop builds on the knowledge gained in session 1 with a focus on the practical application of a human rights framework.
Session 3
Applied human rights – community engagement
Starting a dialogue about the use of human rights frameworks and approaches to address the concerns of individuals within the community. This session draws together the learning from sessions 1 and 2 with the local knowledge and expertise of participants in identifying the real issues facing their service users working from real life scenarios.
